Poems About Death for a Loved One
When a loved one dies, many people choose to honor that person with a poem or verse. There are countless poems about death that pay tribute to those who have passed away. Bereavement gifts that include such poems can provide much needed support and comfort. For those in grief, reading a poem at a funeral service or adding a poem to a headstone or keepsake can be a wonderful way to express love.
Poems about death do not have to be morbid. In fact, if you are giving a gift that includes a poem, make sure that the poem honors the deceased individual and celebrates their life in a positive manner. For instance, the following poems may provide a grieving person and their family with comfort:
“Everything you see has its roots in the unseen world.
The forms may change, yet the essence remains the same”
Mevlana
“I have only slipped away into the next room, I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Play, smile, think of me. All is well.”
Henry Scott Holland
“There are no goodbyes for us.
Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.”
Ghandi

Those are very sweet verses. I particularly like the Holland one.
One nit to pick: It’s spelled Gandhi.
